VMI is a state-supported four-year undergraduate college combines the studies of a full college curriculum within a framework of military discipline.

B.A or B.S. degrees in 14 disciplines in the fields of engineering, science, and liberal arts
Degrees offered: Biology, Chemistry, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computer Science, Economics and Business, Electrical Engineering, English, History, International Studies, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Modern Languages and Cultures, Physics, and Psychology. All cadets participate in Reserve Officer Training Corps (Army, Navy/Marine Corps, and Air Force) with 40% of each graduating class pursuing commissions.

Division I women's teams include: cross country, indoor and outdoor track; individual participation is available in rifle and swimming; soccer should begin varsity competition in the fall of 2003 or 2004.

Division I men's teams include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, indoor/outdoor track, lacrosse, rifle, soccer, swimming, and wrestling. Within 5 months of graduation, approx. 97% of each class has a full-time employment or is in graduate school.
